Director of Nursing
JOB DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for a Director of Nursing to join our team at SLS! The Director of Nursing will oversee all staff members that provide healthcare at SLS: RN’s, LPN’s, and Health Care Aides. You will delegate nursing responsibilities to a team of 40+ Mental Health Advocates who are skilled at providing care and administering medications to our more than 220 clients.
The primary emphasis of this position is mental health case management and oversight of medication administration. Because our clients are physically independent and advocates provide the majority of the direct care, this position entails minimal hands-on nursing. It offers a great opportunity for one-on-one work with clients around their mental health management, and the opportunity lead a nursing department at a growing company. This unique role requires excellent communication skills, keen client assessment skills, and a strong leadership ability.
As the Director of Nursing you will:
- Lead and manage the nursing team including: training oversight of all healthcare staff members, performance reviews and status meetings, schedules, vacation requests, and payroll
- Ensure nursing team is in compliance with license requirements and is operating effectively
- Serve as a member of our Operations team, reporting to the Director of Operations
- Collaborate with training team for purposes of composing, updating and delivering staff trainings
- Fulfill RN responsibilities (see below) as needed based on need and coverage
SLS RN responsibilities:
- Manage and approve client medication orders
- Act as a liaison between doctors and clients regarding mental and physical health changes
- Conduct nursing assessments for new clients and annual evaluations for current clients
- Provide retraining to Advocates on medication administration
- Create and log medication error reports
- Share 24 hour on-call responsibilities across nursing team
COMPENSATION
Full time, exempt position
Salary negotiable based on experience
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current RN License and liability insurance
- 4-year degree in nursing
- Prior management and/or leadership experience
- Extremely proficient computer skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to teach others
- Passion for mental health
- Experience with Customized Living or Assisted living would be ideal
